  • The stands for Encouragement - [in'kərijmənt, en'kərijmənt] the action of giving someone support, confidence, or hope.

We believe that everyone has the capacity to encourage someone else, many just need the opportunity. Project E will give you this unique opportunity!

This initiative focuses on surviving mothers, fathers, and caregivers whose children's lives were cut short because of senseless violence in our community and abroad.

The quotes below were captured from a survey completed by surviving mothers, fathers and caregivers. The question asked was, "What would you want to hear from someone, who wanted to share some words of encouragement with you"

"We want to know we're not forgotten. Someone cares about us. We are loved. We are seen. We are remembered. We are acknowledged as a mother, father or caregiver. We want you to realize that this day is incredibly hard for us, and knowing we are worth the celebration of that day, means a lot, especially the holidays"

    How does the process work?

    ■ All encouragement letters and cards will be mailed to:

    Tesha's Hands, Inc.

    P.O. Box 56287

    Jacksonville Florida 32241

Once we receive your encouraging letter or card, the return address will be blacked out.

We will bundle the letters and cards together and mail directly to the surviving mother, father, or caregiver.

Your name and contact information and the surviving mother, father or caregiver's name and contact information will remain confidential.

It is permissible to either sign your letter or card with your first name only.

    For example:

    Respectfully, Lakesha

Letters and Cards will be sent annually on the listed holidays:

Mother's Day Father's Day Christmas Day

    • Each surviving Mother, Father and Caregiver will agree to receive encouraging letters and cards from Tesha's Hands. Inc. on behalf of you.

Losing children to illness, disease or acts of violence is devastating and endlessly difficult to cope with. It is our prayer that mothers, fathers and caregivers who have experienced such loss and finding a way to make it through, will find comfort in receiving an encouragement letter or card from each of you.

We don't need to know the names or details of their circumstances. We know they are surviving mothers, fathers, and caregivers whose children's lives were cut short because of senseless violence in our community. The encouragement letters and cards will allow your heart to speak to their heart.

*Please refrain from comments such as "He/she is in a better place", Sorry for your loss".
